NOTD: OPI Tickle My France-y

In Nail on June 30, 2011 at 9:44 am

I don’t know what got into me since last week, but I feel like these nails need something elegant…. elegant, eh?! And when I said elegant, it does mean classy for office outlook.. neutral polish.. blah blah blah.. So I had to decide whether it would be OPI You Don’t Know Jacques or Tickle My France-y, both from OPI La Collection De France for Fall 2008 . But then my choice fell into the last one. I have this for a long time, but never tried it out… you see, pale or nude polish is not really my thing, just I like to buy some in order to give me comfortable feeling.. Ok, enough, I know how strange this sounds..

Tickle My France-y is nude color with warm undertone.. gives you a feminine and classic look. As a bonus, it has great formula and excellent coverage. This polish pulls a bit old pink with purple and slightly grey touches.

I absolutely love this polish.. neutral without being sheer or too bland. I will rebuy when I run out of this.

NOTD: OPI Serena Glam Slam Spark de Triomphe & White Shatter

In Nail on June 23, 2011 at 8:27 am

Second release from OPI and Serena Williams due to French Open, Spark de Triomphe paired with a White Shatter.

According to website, it should look like this:

Spark de Triomphe is a clear based polish with super tiny gold glitter, plus it has large silver glitter too. This is an amazing color to wear on its own, makes it more versatile than just a plain gold or silver polish. Sunlight makes the gold color even sparkly.

Since this one came with the White Shatter, I tried it out. I never like the combo, because turned out White Shatter didn’t crack as much as Black or Red Shatter do. So the shatter covers almost all of my Spark De Triomphe. Haiya 😦

I always thought it would be better if I wear another color as a base. Will try it later.

NOTD: OPI Serena Glam Slam Rally Pretty Pink & Red Shatter

In Nail on June 22, 2011 at 8:59 am

Last week I just received another OPI Serena Glam Slam collection, Rally Pretty Pink paired with a Red Shatter. The collection has been released on early May to coincide with the French Open. I did order this since last month, but the seller sent me the wrong package.. Anyway, my patience of waiting is paid off when I see the colors. I was wondering how Rally Pretty Pink would look like under the Red Shatter. Rally Pretty Pink is a deep mauve/pink, has brown/yellow undertones with shiny rich gold sparkle. Under natural light, it looks more purple and coppery. I love this kind of coppery pink rather than light bubble gum pink. Some people said Rally Pretty Pink is a dupe of Zoya Faye. As far as I remember, Zoya Faye is richer and bolder, while this one is definitely lighter.

Red Shatter over Rally Pretty Pink makes deep pink color looks more gold. Red Shatter is really cool and I have no regret buying it. Basically I love this duo on my nails, already wearing it four days without chipping.

Now I’m waiting for Serena Glam Slam England Collection. Recently I couldn’t think other than Royal Wedding when I heard ‘England’. But of course Serena has nothing to do with the wedding.. It’s for tennis tournament in Wimbledon which is held this June.

NOTD: Orly Halleys Commet + OPI Black Shatter

In Nail on June 10, 2011 at 8:39 am

I bought OPI Black Shatter a while ago, because it was on Katy Perry’s series. Then if I’m not mistaken, OPI released it again as a pair of Serena Glam Slam set with Simply Smashing.

I searched all over the internet, tried to figure out the best way to use this shatter. Almost all swatches just using OPI nail polish as a base. So this time I’m not gonna follow the rules.

This is Orly Halley’s Commet from 2010 Orly Cosmic FX collection. It looks more green in real life, but the camera just made it more blue here. You can say this is turqoise glittery duochrome polish. Definitely has amazing color and worth every penny. I always remember a deep blue sea when I see the color, the difference just this one has lots of glitters in it.

Voila! Love the result.. I even keep staring at it before finally fell asleep 🙂

I was so curious how Orly Halley’s Commet would look like if coated under OPI Black Shatter. Orly itself has a good formula, I just need to wait around 15 minutes before applying the shatter. The shatter gives a great effect of having a nail design, but shatter dries as a matte so it looks best layered over large glitter colors, holos and flakies. Also it will be a good idea to use shatter on top of a worn out manicure if you don’t have time to take it off and do a new one.

OPI Black Shatter dries really fast, so apply it in quick, even strokes. Thinner layer means thinner cracks like leopard print nails. Thicker layer means crappy nails, because the black cracks stand out. And if you apply another layer to correct it, it usually gets very chunky.. phewww.

Katy Perry’s Royal Wedding Nails

In Nail on June 7, 2011 at 9:50 am

I am sooo impressed with royal wedding nails from Katy Perry. My conclusion is, she tells the truth when she said was excited for the royal wedding.

On her twitter, she wrote: “In honor of the Royal Wedding, I present you… My royal NAILS! CONGRATS!”
